Creative Critical Reflection

Here is my CCR.

I can't say I love my film, but I have no one to blame but myself. My fear and lazy senior habits caused me to procrastinate far too long. Now that I'm finished, I can look back and reflect on how my audio was lacking as well as my plot development. Though the journal entry from my male lead (featured on the website) is a band aid to that problem. I plan on reworking the footage I have to create a short film that can surpass 5 minutes. My biggest struggle was trying to fit everything under five minutes, which is why I say the plot development is weak. I had to leave out many important dialogue driven scenes. In the end, I'm just happy and proud that I finally finished.

The long awaited: Target Audience

I, a member of generation Z, will be targeting my generation, but also millennials, because I'm sure they're all at the point of their lives where they wish they could just pack and up and walk away from everything.

This age range would hit high school and college students, both of which I think would enjoy a film as such. This will make the film relatable in the aspect of just wanting to drop everything and leave, because your parents or school or etc. We're all just young and full of angst.

We all also wish we could skip out on school and love on the road with free spirited people, but we all know that education is practical and so we watch to pretend that it's us.

To social media or not to social media?

Prior to speaking to some classmates, I was unsure on whether or not to create social media pages for my film. I had started leaning towards no, but upon editing my website I realized, I do need it. I need to link it to my site for anyone who visits may site.

Personally when I find a film intriguing I like to go to the social media pages to see if there are interviews with the actors or any behind the scenes photos. One of my favorite things is seeing how the cast and crew get along outside of the actual film.

So, I did it.



And it looks pretty terrible right now and I didn't link my website yet. But, hey, its made.

I also think I'm going to make a Twitter, but not a Facebook as I feel like my target audience isn't too involved on Facebook. Also, that reminds me... I never informed you guys on my target audience... So uhhh stay tuned

Expect the Unexpected

SO funny story I failed to tell you about yesterday....


I sort of completely changed up what my film is about. Instead of a a film about a boy who runs away from home and comes across some amazing people, my film is about a boy who is willing to do anything he needs to survive... including murder an innocent for her car, even after she was kind to him and gave him a ride to food, water, a place to crash, as well as company.

Filming

Filming yesterday went amazing. I maybe almost fell out of car, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

I got some great shots that I think will look very nice. I even managed to get a random car to blow off my pretend hitch hiker, so a special thanks to that family for being understanding.

I had to reluctantly let my friend drive my mother's jeep for the scene, but thankfully there wasn't much around for her to crash into.

Here's my hitch hiker, sweating his butt off in the Florida heat. I originally had him costumed in shorts, but we both agreed they didn't look as good as the bottoms he's wearing now. So, shout out to him for being a trooper.

I still hate myself for not filming earlier and I'm sure you hate me for it to, but I'm a poopy senior... Also, sorry that this blog post was all over the place.

I'm really doing it...

      So, I've gathered all the props from my home and the few my friends will be donating. I will film Monday and Tuesday and edit Thursday through Monday. I told you guys I wouldn't actually end up following my original schedule.

     I've gathered everything from tapestries to towels to fruit bowls to chairs to portable hammocks. the list goes on and on and on. Thankfully, my mother has a jeep (that will too be featured in my film)  and I can pack up everything in there. I really wish I had an small, old couch handy to use instead of chairs, but what can you do?

      I think that in place of a couch I'll put a few chairs together, add some pillows (to act as cushions), and drape a tapestry over. My very own makeshift couch.

     The setting up of this area seems like it may be difficult, because I need it to look abundant and as if people have been inhabiting the area for a while. But I also can't actually make a whole outside living area as seen in Captain Fantastic. I'll achieve the false look of abundance by keeping the shots very tight and limited to one area of the "set."
